Mar 09 2017 Get Glowing Skin and Keep IT!
Glowing Skin is NOT wrinkles, pimples and age spots — we dislike them all!!!
I would know, I used to have horrible skin. Acne and I were close friends much to my dismay.. like the big, cystic and painful acne. I would want to call in sick to work acne. I took all measures growing up trying to ditch it. Two rounds of Accutane, every prescription gel, retinol, and cream possible. Most of it did nothing!!! Glowing skin seemed like a fantasy world I would never be a part of. Talk about a confidence killer!! Don’t even get me started on wrinkles… no bueno!
But over the years, as I’ve followed this path toward a healthier lifestyle, I’ve found solutions to help all my skin problems nearly disappear. I’m a makeup artist and esthetician by trade and still had a hard time troubleshooting my skin. Until I changed my nutrition. You see, our skin is the largest organ we have. If it is having problems, that’s a sign something’s not right on the inside. Now I’ve got beautiful, healthy and glowing skin I can be dang proud of and the best part is that I was able to get here naturally!
I want to share four tips that I’ve followed, that will help you not only start improving the health and look of your skin now, but also how to help undo any damage you’ve done, to return it to that glowing skin we all want.
Tip #1: Say Goodbye to Gluten
This is my number one, absolute must tip to having amazing, glowing skin! Here’s the deal with gluten, not all gluten is made the same. Over the years, it’s been modified to cause more damage then actually add healthy nutrition to our body. Especially in the U.S., today’s gluten is more of a stress inducer for your body. It causes inflammation in most of us and some more sensitive to it than others, but let’s just say I won’t touch the stuff with a ten-foot pole. All those added stressors on our system means wrinkles, acne, brown spots — and let’s be real… nobody wants that.
The stress in your body caused by gluten causes your skin to look dull and aged. Did you know that gluten is possibly linked to psoriasis, patchy skin and eczema? I’m just saying. I went gluten-free 4 years ago and not only does my tummy look less bloated, my skin has never looked better.
Before you start to think you can’t handle one more project to tackle like going gluten-free, let me tell you it’s WAY easier than you may think! There are so many healthy alternatives to gluten products, you just have to know what to look for. You can get all of my tips, tricks, and downloads in this FREE private Facebook Group. I love sharing what I’ve learned with anyone who needs it. I’ll accept your request asap Gluten-Free Sisters FB Group!!
Tip #2: Roots and Fruits
Root vegetables and fruits are pretty close to the Fountain of Youth. You should be eating these regularly! Eating root veggies and beautiful fruits, flood the bloodstream with nutrients that your body needs to make glowing skin! Your skin is clearer, the whites of your eyes are brighter, you sleep better — so why wouldn’t you eat them?
I know there are some people out there who say, “Should we really be eating fruits and root vegetables? Those have a lot of sugar in them.” Let’s get real for a second, it’s MUCH better than grabbing a granola bar full of preservatives and sugars. The sugars you’re supposed to avoid are things like high fructose corn syrup and the junk that’s in your processed foods. If you’re eating things like beets, sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots, cherries, blueberries, raspberries, plums, pineapples, you’re doing your body GOOD! Your body and skin will thank you for it by looking beautiful and feeling radiant.
It’s also worth mentioning that your brain runs on pure glucose. If you’re cutting out root vegetables and fruits from your diet, your body is going to feel it.
Tip #3: Watch the Oils
All the nasty oils in everything like Canola Oil, Sunflower Oil, etc., these are all stressors and toxins to your body. Did you know that the stress and toxins produced by oils and gluten actually prevents collagen from developing? No wonder so many people are struggling with getting and maintaining healthy skin! I use organic cold-pressed olive oil in my salad dressings and avocado or coconut oil for heated cooking. You don’t want to over heat olive oil or it turns rancid.
Remember how I mentioned our skin will tell us when something is off? If you’re eating those sugars, processed foods, fast food and cooking with all that oil that turns toxic and rancid, your body will give you signals to let you know something’s not right. We must read labels and educate ourselves to be in our BEST health NOW.
Tip #4: Silky sleep
I’m a side sleeper and my cheeks stay planted against the pillow at night. Fortunately, I’m sleeping on a silk pillowcase. I’ve had it for almost 8 years and it looks brand new and I don’t have to worry about getting those nasty sleep wrinkles. Here’s the thing, if you’re sleeping on cotton sheets or anything other than silk, those are harder surfaces and can create wrinkles if your skin is smudged against the fabric all night. With silk sheets, your skin glides and doesn’t scrunch, so it helps to prevent those wrinkles that give you a forced, aged look. It’s great for preventing breakage on your hair and that’s how I originally learned about the benefits (shout out to my stylist!). http://shop.nordstrom.com/slipsilk-pure-silk-pillowcase
You can find super affordable options on Amazon here:
https://www.amazon.com/SilkPillowcasesBonus Tip: Stay hydrated!
Your skin is not going to look good if it’s not hydrated.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you’ve got a sweet tooth, skip the soda and opt for things like Kombucha, La Croix or Zevia. I also love 1/2 lemon squeezed into an 8 oz glass of water first thing in the morning.Above all else, remember your body is a miracle!! It knows how to work and it wants to work and function to be vibrant and healthy. You just need to help it get there and stay that way. Stop treating your body like a garbage can, putting junk into it and start treating it like the gift it is. Then you will have that glowing skin you’ve always wanted!!

2 oz. cream cheese
1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup canned pumpkin puree

¾ tsp. baking soda, gluten-free
1 dash sea salt (or Himalayan salt)
2 Tbsp. raw pumpkin seedsPreparation:
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Prepare nine muffin cups by lining with muffin tin liners or coating with spray. Set aside.
3. Combine cream cheese and maple syrup in a small bowl; mix well. Set aside.
4. Combine egg and pumpkin in a medium bowl; mix well. Set aside.
5. Combine almond flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; mix well.
6. Add almond meal mixture to egg mixture; mix until just blended.
7. Spoon batter into each prepared muffin cup, filling a little less than ½ full.
8. Spoon about 1 heaping tsp. cream cheese mixture into the center of each muffin. Evenly fill muffin cups ¾ full with remaining batter.
9. Sprinkle muffins evenly with pumpkin seeds.

You can make your own almond flour by processing 1 cup slivered almonds in food processor (or blender with a strong motor). Make sure that you pulse in 20-second intervals to prevent the almonds from turning into almond butter. 1 cup of slivered almonds yields approximately 1 cup of almond flour.
If you can’t find almond flour in your store, you can look at club stores or online.Let me know when you try these delicious pumpkin muffins. They are a family favorite! They will fill you up, so are perfect for breakfast or a quick healthy snack!

Oct 10 2016 Don’t Miss Out On This Healthy Fruit…..the Pear!!
One Very Healthy Fruit!
The pear. My favorite healthy fruit. Hands down.
I’ve been teaching the kids (and reminding myself) that food has life in it. We’ve been playing the game of…”Does this food have life in it?”
Let’s just say that Pirate’s Booty or gluten free pretzels do not contain life, 😂👌🏻 even though it’s their favorite crunchy snack. Everything in moderation 😉
This is the reason we don’t eat fast food. My prayer is that they understand these concepts early. I didn’t until I was 30ish 😳😩#nobueno
Why pears?
Here’s a little infographic breaking down some of the major benefits of pears:
- Pears are one of the highest-fiber fruits, offering six grams per medium-sized fruit, helping you meet your daily requirement of 25 to 30 grams. Filling up on fiber keeps you regular to prevent a bloated belly caused by constipation, which also helps prevent colon cancer. A diet high in fiber can also keep your cholesterol levels down, which is good news for your ticker. Getting your fill of fiber from fruit is also linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.
- Pears contain a fair amount of vitamins C, K, B2, B3, and B6. For expecting or nursing moms, they also contain folate. Pears aren’t too shabby in the mineral department either, containing calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, and manganese. Vitamin C and copper are antioxidant nutrients, so eating pears is good for your immune system and may help prevent cancer.
- Pears also contain boron, which our bodies need in order to retain calcium, so this fruit can also be linked to prevention of osteoporosis.
- The phytonutrients found in pears are also associated with preventing stomach cancer.
- It’s a hypoallergenic fruit, which means those with food sensitivities can usually eat pears with no adverse effects.
- Eating three or more servings of fruits a day, such as pears, may also lower your risk of age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), the primary cause of vision loss in older adults.
- Quercetin is another antioxidant found in the skin of pears. It’s beneficial for cancer prevention and can help reduce blood pressure, so don’t peel your pears!
Find more at Popsugar.com.
Pears are a normal commodity in our home. I love cutting them up and having them at the ready for the kids after school. They are such a healthy fruit and so worth having in your diet.

Mar 04 2016 My Journey – Who Is Stacy Rody?
My Journey
Oh the journey!! My social media family has grown tremendously over the last few months. I thought it was time to share a little more about me – the good, weird & ugly.
I’ve seen an incredible amount of personal growth & business growth over the past 3 years. My team is growing by leaps and bounds this year and I couldn’t be more proud. I wanted to share a little more about me or remind some of you what my passions are.
It isn’t all perfect … not even close! I’m a REAL person.
* I grew up a very insecure person
* At the age of 12, I was told by a relative that I might be cute on the outside but as soon as I opened my mouth, nothing important came out
* I met Jesus at age 12 but didn’t surrender my life to Him until I was 23
* Really “meeting” Him was the pivotal moment that changed the course of my life forever. He heals my hurts and loves on me daily.
* I had a pony named Partner growing up and learned how to french braid on his tail. Growing up on 5 acres with all sorts of animals was so fun!
* I dabbled with drugs and the party scene until I met Jesus. Smoked cigarettes for over 5 years until I was 23 and then quit cold turkey
*On my 13th birthday I ate almost a whole bulk container of Sour Patch Kids and every Christmas it was a bulk container of Jelly Belly’s
* I’ve since traded dried fruit for my old “gummy” addiction and feel tons better
* I am very sensitive to foods and finally realized I was gluten-intolerant after having my second baby. I won’t touch the stuff.
* There have been times where I’ve struggled with depression and secluding myself into a shell. Exercise is the BEST drug for me to combat this
* I am learning how to have a “thicker skin” and ONLY look at the positive in life– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
* I do not have a college degree
* I’m addicted to spray tans
* I’m a makeup artist and esthetician by trade but have become literally obsessed with helping women feel beautiful from the inside out with health and fitness
* Working at Nordstrom for 8 years left me with a nice appetite for all things beautiful #shopping
* I’m an “outgoing” introvert and have a fierce phobia of microphones
* I had my heart broken at 19 and I went from one unsuccessful relationship to the next… always missing something…
* I had to take a year off from dating (I’ve been on more blind dates than one person should ever go on) to let Jesus come into my heart and heal it
* I ironically met my husband on a blind date ;)* I was in debt when I got married and never thought I would make a decent income….was used to living paycheck to paycheck
* We’ve been married 10 years and I adore my man! Being a wife and mom is the BEST thing ever to me
*Having a girl and a boy is what I’ve always dreamed of. Love their personalities and snuggles.
* I love working to help support my family and also grow as a person so I can teach my kiddos about failing forward and how to push past tough obstacles
* I’m not a certified fitness trainer but I love helping women find their inner confidence through their physical strength
* I get excited to coach other women build successful businesses from home so they can have freedom to choose if they want to work outside of the home or not
* I love working with those that stay in the game….the consistent ones who will not give up…. because – that – is – me!!
I am NO longer that shy insecure girl but a CONQUEROR! That is ALL because of what Jesus has done in my life…. all the way down to Beachbody. He knew I needed this business so He could refine me and show me I had a voice.
There is always a message in our messes. The journey is the beautiful part of it all.
So… while I LOVE fitness, nutrition, make up, fashion, hair, home decor and all things girly -everything does not come easy to me. I have to work hard at it!
Go buy ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ on Amazon. You will NOT regret it!
If you need someone in your corner – I’m that girl. I’d love to hear more about you 🙂
Thank you for your support here and on social media. I truly appreciate the community that has grown around and with me…
Have a wonderful night!
XO, Stace

Feb 11 2016 Shakeology – Why It’s So Convenient!
Shakeology – The Convenience Factor!
When I used to go on “diets” I, for some strange reason, gravitated towards tuna. In my mind it was one of my diet foods lol! Don’t even know where I got that idea and sure, tuna is fantastic in small amounts but not when you’re within 5 feet of any human…..mint please!! ??? Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with tuna, but it is mainly just a protein, with a few other benefits. But it was a “go-to”! Well, time teaches you lots of things and when the oh so wonderful Shakeology came into my life, I knew I was finally making a lifestyle change.
I no longer “diet” (thank God) but I do pay attention to what I put in my mouth. I read labels and stick to whole foods 80% of the time. My favorite thing about my Shakeology is that I can drink it in between spa clients, it keeps my tummy trim and I don’t smell like a fishery haha. I could have really used Shakeology when I was working at Nordstrom. I would be have days where I there was no possible way I was going to take a bite of anything. But having a healthy superfood shake…..would’ve been perfect.
Another huge convenience is with having kids! This superfood shake isn’t only good for adults….it is great for the kids as well. Since we have Vegan Shakeology, it really is a fool proof way to get them a daily dose of vitamins in a few short minutes. Then, they usually drink it while we are heading to an appointment or what not! So easy! I used to fool myself too. I would tell myself, “I’m giving my kids a totally balanced meal…everyday….”, ya right! There are so many times where in the busyness of life, the meals aren’t balanced. This allows me to pack in 70 different superfoods into my kiddos without them batting an eye, or complaining one bit. The Shakeology ingredients are no joke! See for yourself, take a look at them here! Oh and it is gluten-free. I always like to remind people of this.
My flavor of the day is vegan strawberry Shakeology with power greens, frozen blueberries, water and ice! Blend and go!! #366ers

Jan 27 2016 Awesome Salmon Gluten-Free Dinner
Salmon Gluten-Free Dinner
I love have a gluten-free dinner that my whole family enjoys. I was the queen of white bread sandwiches with the crust cut off. Doritos. Candy. Fast food. Frozen dinners. All throughout my 20’s. As my husband started his health transformation, after our daughter was born, and I started seeing how much his nutrition made a difference, I really started finding new options. Finding staple gluten-free options is now a priority.
Now at 37, I don’t have time or the freedom to have my energy completely zapped from me with poor nutrition. I have fought the good fight to say bye-bye to fast food and that was a slow process! Our kids don’t even know what McDonald’s is. Extreme? Maybe, but we want them to have proper fuel just like we do. They ate this for dinner last night too! Meals like this used to be boring to me and now they are a blessing.
Salmon Gluten-Free Dinner Recipe
- Broiled wild salmon with Trader Joe’s garlic salt on it (7-10 minutes under a 500 degree broil).
- The topping is a recipe from ohsheglows.com
- One avocado
- 1/2 cup of cilantro
- 1-2 Tbsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1-2 Tbsp of water
- Food process until smooth!
So very delicious as a dip for anything! We steamed broccoli and there you have it. A wonderful, absolutely balanced gluten-free dinner that really keeps the body happy and healthy. Do not think that you aren’t making a difference when you put the right food in front of your family. Their bodies will love you for it! As the mother of the house, I really take pride in providing the best options possible, especially for my kids. So go make your gluten-free dinner and your family will love you for it!

Jan 26 2016 22 Minute Hard Corps Test Group is Getting Serious!
22 Minute Hard Corps Update
22 Minute Hard Corps is now into week 4 for my husband Matt! I am going to have him tell you all about it!
“Wow….all I can say is WOW!!! 22 Minute Hard Corps has to be the best workout program I have ever done. I have done Body Beast, P90X, Insanity, T25, 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme, P90X2 and P90X3. I have done half of Hammer and Chisel, got interrupted when I was rudely invited to do this test group, by corporate Beachbody!! So here I am. Already through an entire three weeks and I cannot believe how much my body has changed!
I am already down 13lbs and down over 7.5 inches…..most of the loss is in my waist and chest…my two hardest areas to tone. I have never had good definition in my abs and they are on there way to be the best I’ve ever had…..and it’s only been three weeks!! This is an eight week program! It is difficult though. There are awesome modifications, so no worries there, but it is fast pace. Tony Horton, the man, really takes this workout program to an entirely new level!! He makes 22 Minute Hard Corps the extreme. If you are already in shape….this will challenge you.
I would say I started this program in decent shape, or so I thought. As soon as I began, I knew I was going to have to dig deeper than ever before. I thought I could jump right through 22 minutes! I mean common….it is only 22 minutes!! Nope, it is awesome. Here is a little example of one of the moves. I could probably do 3 or 4 of these at the beginning, now I can do over 20!!
[youtube id=”EwhJsE7Aucw”]
This last week, my wife had to go through a 3rd surgery, the 3rd in the last 3 months! It has been a challenging time. The thing I always forget is that when you are doing a full body, cardio, circuit style training, you not only gain muscle, but you gain so much energy! Energy has just gone out the roof. I have had so much fun playing with my kids at night…we will rough house for up to 3 hours after dinner! I used to be gassed after an hour! 22 Minute Hard Corps is really changing my life. I am feeling so amazing!
I also did have a slight setback…but I didn’t let that get in my way.
[youtube id=”QHojqqDQQfE”]
22 Minute Hard Corps Nutrition
This is the part that I needed a lot of work on. Prior to 22 Minute Hard Corps I had been trying to bulk. At the beginning of 2015 I was doing Body Beast. I am a tall 6’7″ man. Getting meat on my bones has not been easy, getting fat is. I can gain weight quickly. I decided to really work on it all of 2015. I did one full round of Body Beast, then almost all the way through a second round. After that I began doing a lot of circuit training with heavier weights. This meant one main thing. Food and lots of it! Definitely mostly healthy but definitely not perfect. I was averaging between 3500-4500 calories a day.
With 22 Minute Hard Corps I have lowered my calorie count to around 2400-2500 per day. I am having a ratio of 1:1 protein to my weight, higher fat and middle of the road carbohydrates. I have Shakeology (learn more about it here) once a day, sometimes twice depending on how busy I am. I really do mix macros and 21 Day Fix food containers. It is a perfect balance. The nutrition is so very important to me. I am having only natural sugars through some fresh fruit and occasional dry fruit. I am not drinking alcohol right now. There comes a point when you just want to see what your body is capable of and how it will react. I am trying to eat six meals a day. I try to keep my yellow containers to no later than 4:00PM.
This is also the part that I have to have the most discipline with. Late night snacking has always been an issue for me. Through this time I will only have Recharge (learn more about it here), an amazing Beachbody supplement or a Vegan protein shake. I do have whey protein as well, but very minimally. I use both Vega and Orgain protein powders. I tend to stay away from animal products because I am having a decent amount of meat. I always try to have greens with my meat, the fiber will help with digestion. I also have a staple kale dish I have almost everyday. I am continually tweaking it.
22 Minute Hard Corps Continues
I can’t wait for Stacy to join me. I know she would be doing far better than me at this point. Her crazy physical craziness, (you can read about it here, and here) have really taken a tole on her and I can’t wait for her to be back at it! I need my partner keeping me focused! I have one of the workouts down fully. I can do every move all the way through and am now cutting out some of the rest times….don’t worry, their not very long! I still modify pull ups and chin ups, since I still can only do a few. It is fun to see the progression! It is amazing to be in a challenge group, where everyone posts and we are all a team, focused on getting results!
I am also taking emails! If you are interested at all in doing 22 Minute Hard Corps, it will be available in March, I would love to get you in a group, so that I can notify you of it’s release as soon as it comes out! So comment on this post or better yet email us at [email protected] and put in the subject line “GETSOME”! That is the official hashtag of this program! Stacy and I look forward to going through this process with you!!

Jan 12 2016 Protein Pancake Recipe! Gluten-Free of Course!
Protein Pancake Recipe
This protein pancake recipe is fantastic. It is absolutely perfect for a yummy weekend breakfast or perhaps a fun breakfast for dinner idea? A great way to get some protein with your carbs. These pancakes are packed with protein and will be perfect for getting the kiddos full with a healthy meal! Matt took the original recipe on the back of the pancake mix package and changed it up. He said it took him about 10 tries before he finally found the right measurements. We will have these any time! When you are gluten-free it is nice having something like this, because literally, they taste better than buttermilk pancakes. A lot of time they come as gluten-free lunch ideas! So don’t just think they are a breakfast specialty…they’re not.
Here’s chef Matt’s signature Protein Pancake Recipe:
- Heat pan to med-high with 1 Tbsp of avocado oil
- 1/4- 1/2 cup Pamela’s gluten-free pancake baking mix
- Match the amount of water to the amount of Pamela’s you used
- Wisk in 6-8 eggs
- Add 1-2 Tbsp of avocado oil.
Makes enough for our family of 4. The kids love them so it fills them up the whole morning. Perfect if you have a busy Saturday!! I love the fluffy egginess (is that a word;)?) Sometimes a protein pancake recipe comes from just experimenting!
Enjoy!
