    Morning Fat Blasting Drink!!

    I used to drink only lemon water but this is taking it up a notch for me. Drinking this fat blasting drink in the morning☀ first thing ☀has kind of got me addicted. Remember to drink it right when you get up.  Last night I actually made this and then had it ready to go in the morning.  So many health benefits to combat the Christmas chocolate I just can’t seem to throw away ??

    Here is a great breakdown on why this is so important!

    Your Morning Fat Blaster

    When we awaken in the morning, we are ending a period of fasting that has lasted all night long. The first thing that you consume in the morning is very important and can have a critical impact on our health. Easy absorption on an empty stomach is the main reason.  A simple glass of warm water containing cayenne pepper, lemon and apple cider vinegar can have a significant impact on your health. The benefits of this simple drink are extensive and nothing short of amazing. Want to know more about the benefits that you will see from consuming this beverage first thing every morning? Here they are:

    • The lemon helps to break up mucus, helping to clear your sinuses that can be a significant benefit for allergy sufferers or those who have a cold or flu.  Restoration of the alkaline acid balance in your body which will relieve any issues that you are suffering due your consumption of a diet that is high in acid-producing foods.
    • This beverage will help to remove toxins from the body.
    • Clears up the skin and gives it a noticeably healthy glow.
    • Can help to break down fats in the body which will result in noticeable weight loss.

    Directions For the Fat Blasting Drink:

    • Always drink this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach when you first wake up.
    • Stir all of the ingredients together and drink the beverage immediately.
    • It is a good idea to drink this concoction through a straw so that you do not get all of the acids on your teeth that can cause damage, especially if you are drinking this every day.
    • Don’t eat anything else for 10 – 15 minutes so that you allow your body a chance to absorb all of the ingredients.
    • When you first begin drinking this mixture you may find it very tart and difficult to consume. If necessary, add in a teaspoon of honey that will add a little bit of sweetness. As you start to get used to the taste you can start to reduce the honey until you no longer need to add the honey.
    • This drink has a lot of major health benefits, and your body is going to appreciate it. You may not like it at first, but once you make it a habit of drinking this daily, you are well on your way to enjoying the health benefits that this elixir provides.

    Instant Pot, Making Healthy Food Has Never Been Easier! My Favorite Healthy Instant Pot Recipe!

    I’m always posting food ideas in my Instagram stories so make sure to follow me @stacyrody. I would love to hear your favorite Instant Pot go-to recipes.

    I am the gluten-free girl who loves to eat whole foods but doesn’t always have the time to make time consuming meals. I refuse to eat fast food so when I have a super busy day, I will grab Instant Pot leftovers. I reheat them and take in my thermos container.

    Let’s talk taste. I was an avid crock-pot user but realized how much quicker the Instant Pot could be. If I didn’t have time to combine everything in the crockpot before I left for the day, I was in trouble. This way, I can make something in 40 minute once I pick the kids up or make it early in the day and it will slow-release the pressure and keep everything warm until we are home.

    The first time I made my mama’s Chicken Vegetable Soup in the Instant Pot vs. the stove top, my kids noticed a huge difference in taste. There’s something special about the way it uses pressure and nothing tastes mushy!! What took me at least 2 hrs of simmering on the stove top (which meant I needed to be home) is now about 30 minutes.

    Honestly, I owned it for almost a year before I used it. My friend told me the easiest and best thing to make first was hard boiled eggs. They peel much easier because of the way they are pressure cooked. So I finally got it out and the rest is history.

    Here’s my favorite recipe for Fall:

    Harvest Veggie Spagetti Squash Instant Pot Recipe

    Step 1: Wash and cut squash in half, then half one side so both sides fit. Remove seeds. Then add one cup water and the steamer basket. Place the squash on top. Lock lid and set to high pressure for 7 min. You can quick or slow release depending on how quickly you want the recipe done. Remove the squash and set aside to cool for 10 min.

    Step 2: Drain water and remove steamer basket. Add a tsp of oil to the pot and turn it to the saute feature. Add one onion, chopped, and two packs of lean ground turkey meat. Stir often until the meat is done. Then add 2 tsp. Flavor God Spicy Everything found here: https://amzn.to/2EwZ8k0

    Step 3: Add the inside of the squash back into the pot, along with one jar of your favorite low sugar pasta sauce. I’ve been using Trader Joe’s seasonal flavored sauce called “Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce.” It tastes amazing. I also add in some grated Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to taste.

    Step 4: Lock the lid and set to Manual high pressure for 10 minutes. This lets all the flavors combine. You can then have it stay warm or eat right away. I will often times top with some red pepper flakes for the extra spice.

    Other great things to make in it are:

    White Bean Chicken Chili
    Sweet Potatoes
    Chicken Vegetable Soup
    Butter Chicken Masala
    Oatmeal

    Ways to Stop Drinking Alcohol, Specifically Wine to Help With My Weight Loss Transformation!

    I’m the girl who constantly wonders when the appropriate time of day is to switch from coffee to wine. I’d say those are my two favorite treat drinks.

    I’ve learned to find alternatives for the things I love but don’t serve my goals.

    I want to enjoy life to the fullest!! These yummy drinks help me feel satisfied and at peace with the fact that I’m making a better choice for my overall health.

    My top favorites are:

    Here’s the recipe for the lemon ginger water:

    Juice from two lemons
    Pinch of cayenne to taste
    2-3 drops of vanilla liquid stevia https://amzn.to/2Ct32IT
    1-2 one inch chucks of peeled ginger to taste

    I blended all ingredients with one cup of water and then strain off the ginger pulp with a fine mesh strainer.

    I then mix with a gallon of water and pre-fill my water bottles for the day!

    So much tastier than you might think! I love little tricks of the trade. I would have never known about this if it wasn’t for my fit community.

    P.S. it’s not husband or kid approved. Maybe just a mom approved who has goals but also wants a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon tonight?!

  • 21 Day Fix Meal – Food Made Easy!

     

    21 Day Fix Meal

    When I started looking at food for FUEL instead of ENTERTAINMENT, that’s when my game changed and this 21 Day Fix meal is perfect.  Food has always been a trigger.  I had no real control of my portions, I had no control of what I was eating in general.  I ate “healthy” food while I was out and about, but would have a ton of dressing, or fries….when those can be the most damaging items for my transformation.  Maintaining consistency and moderation were the two essential keys to see change, that would last.

    ​I get to think of my meals in colors now, thanks to these handy-dandy-portion-control containers. I can eat a variety of meals and still have daily balance. Eating out is easy now because I can eyeball what my portions should be. ???? Knowing what you should do is most the battle we fight.  That was my main problem….I thought I was doing it right and yet I saw hardly any improvements.  I am not talking weight either; I am talking inches, pants fitting better, more energy and attitude change!  These are the portions I had with this 21 Day Fix meal.

    1 Red (cod)
    1 Yellow (organic brown rice)
    ​1 Green (broccoli)

    For my specific plan in the 21 Day Fix Extreme guide, I get 3 greens a day, 4 reds and 2 yellows. Some other colors too ???but you can tell that losing weight does not mean starving yourself. It’s actually quite the opposite.  So many women I talk to feel they need to eat less to accomplish their goals!  This is so far from the truth, most the time!

    Finally, if you are looking for more recipes, Fixate is a great recipe book.  It has a ton of meal plans and gives you the container amounts you need.  I recommend it for any 21 Day Fix meal plans you might want to make.  And when you get to use your daughter’s princess salt and pepper, everything tastes better ?

  • Cheap Gym? Why Not Use Your Own Home?

    My Cheap Gym

    I used to love going to the gym.  I would get in my car, drive 15 minutes, take 5 minutes to park, rush and change my clothes in a shared space, be barely on time for class, then workout in a class for about 45 minutes to an hour.  Then I’d usually do some stretching.  I would then go back to my car, jet out and get back home in 15-20 minutes.

    I figured I spent at least 30 – 45 minutes in my car a day, just in traveling to and from the gym; had to always pack a bag, which took extra time and had to spend an extra 15 minutes at the gym to get ready and what not almost everyday.  You better believe I loved working out at the gym before kids, but it ate up an extra hour per day….usually 5 to 6 days per week.

    Having kids….well, let’s just say that an extra hour a day is huge!!!!  Let’s not forget that time, gas and a gym membership cost money!!!  I needed a cheap gym alternative.  I needed a way to be as efficient as possible!!

    Why the Cheap Gym?

    When my husband began doing P90X in 2012, I really was skeptical that it would work.  Well, he proved me wrong….all while I was getting bigger and bigger, pregnant with my second.  Thanks hubby!!  I watched as he stayed consistent, getting into Insanity after P90X, and losing 70lbs in six months…..all from a room in our basement.  He bought some adjustable dumbbells, a pull up rack, some mats and an old barbell with some weights.  My hubby also added a bench.  Over the years we have added a bit more, using Craigslist or Offer Up to pick up a few more items, but really that was what we needed.  Oh ya….and a TV from 2004 and a DVD player from the same year.  Our cheap gym was complete!!!

    Turbofire was my workout of choice in my small, cozy, cheap gym.  It was perfect.  The space is about 12’X12′, that is including all the equipment.  We have a good amount of natural light, which I love and I can open the window.  Being in the basement, it stays cool in the summers in the Seattle area.  I don’t have to waste any time at all.

    I would take a preworkout drink called Energize, throw a show on for my kids and away I would go!!  As the kids have gotten older, I will get my workout done early, get them ready and then get them to school.  I then get about 5 straight hours to work on my business, get things done around the house, grocery shop, volunteer…you name it, but I’m not taking the time to go to the gym.  Most my workouts are 45 minutes on average, many are shorter and then I am done!  No more commute and prep.  It is super efficient for the busy woman or mom!!

    I never see myself going back to a gym fully.  I love my cheap gym.  A couple of times a week would be fun, especially if I was leading classes, but for the most part, it just wastes too much time.  Time is my most important and precious commodity and a gym is just not in the cards.

    My Cheap Gym Just Got Better!

    Now, fast forward to the present, my cheap gym is even better!  We get all our workouts, literally hundreds of them streaming, anytime we desire!  I will do the entire workout of 21 Day Fix, Hammer and Chisel, Core De Force, but I really love switching them up from time to time, I also love hybrids.  With Beachbody on Demand, I can access any of the workouts anytime.  Having access to every single workout that Beachbody has ever made!  It’s my dream come true!  No more having to search through DVD’s stacked to the ceiling!!

  • Kale Me, Maybe? How to Prep Kale and Actually Enjoy It!

    How To Prep Kale!

    Nom nom! If you have a hard time choking down kale, you have got to test this out.  I have tried a ton of different variations when it comes to this leafy goodness.  I would recommend this one because my entire family, husband, daughter and son all love it.

    We all know in the back of our minds how important these dark leafy greens are for us, yeah? My favorite part is that kale has antioxidants to fight off cancer, tons of minerals and vitamins, and fiber to help aid weight loss!

    You ready? Here goes!

    De-stem the kale leaves by pulling the leaves off with your hand. Roll the kale leaves into a ball and chop it on up. Then roughly chop pumpkin seeds, almonds, dried cranberries or cherries to throw in.

    For the dressing, squeeze two small lemons into a bowl, add 1 Tbsp aged Balsamic vinegar (I buy Safeway brand), 2 Tbsp olive oil, S & P to taste, 1-2 tsp honey and that’s it!

    Once you mix it all, throw it in the fridge for a minute and enjoy! I think it tastes even better on day 2 and 3!  Please, let me know what you think! Also, I love hearing other people’s ideas!  I would love to hear yours!  Kale is a staple in our household, my husband has it at least 5 times a week, I have it around 4 and the kids at least 3.  It really is amazing to watch my kids actually eat this healthy, I never in a million years thought this would happen.  I grew up eating okay, but nothing like we do now.  It is amazing to see my kids stay healthy and if they do get sick, get back on track quickly.

  • Healthy Tips Before Heading To Bed

    Thinking back to earlier years when I lived on my own, I would stay up late watching Three’s Company and drinking milk through red vines (true story), then I switched to snacking on sour patch kids before bed while I fell asleep to the t.v.

    These were habits I had for most of my early 20’s😐.  I still can’t believe what I put in my body right before it went into repair mode. 😰💤

    It wasn’t just a lack of knowledge or ignorance, it was a way to cope. To leave reality and de-stress. Other times I’ve used wine.

    I’m so glad tonight as I think back to those times, that I can find new ways to cope. I can’t imagine what my poor body was thinking and all the cells I damaged 😱

    New habits are being formed and I will try to reverse some of the damage I’ve done to my body.

    If you struggle, know that if you want it bad enough, you can change those nasty old habits into habits that will improve every area of your life. I believe that for you!

    👉🏻 Just a couple new habits I’ve made. Flossing every night (I’m in my 3rd week 🙌🏼). Peptide lip therapy every night (PCA is my favorite). Mainly because lip injections rarely turn out pretty so I need to prevent the breakdown 👄☺️jk! Diffusing oils and reading.

    My new little oil diffuser for our bedroom was on sale at Super Supplements today so I have lavender in it for beddie-bye. It has a burst mode feature that lets it turn on every 10 minutes. We have one for the living room/kitchen, too! I have to say that oils are better than candles to me.

    💓Blueberry Protein Muffins Gluten Free / Dairy Free

    Need a quick easy breakfast idea?  Want to make sure it is as healthy as possible and anyone in the family can have them?  This little blueberry protein muffins are loved by everyone in our home.  If you need a quick fix in the morning or throughout the day, these have worked well for me!

    Blueberry Protein Muffins Recipe:

    1 can pumpkin
    4 eggs
    3 ripe bananas
    1 cup chopped walnuts
    2 cups almond flour
    1/2 cup coconut flour
    2 cups frozen or fresh blueberries
    3 Tbs olive oil
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
    2 Tbsp honey


    Spray muffin papers and preheat oven to 350°. Mix everything and add blueberries and walnuts last. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. They freeze well and the kids LOVE them. See more on my Instagram stories today only. (Click my profile picture) 🙂 @stacyrody Enjoy!!!

  • Clean Cheats That Keep You Satisfied!

    Clean Cheats

    Here are all my current “clean cheats” 🙌🏻I’ve been collecting ideas over the last few years since going gluten-free. I have that darn sweet tooth that needs pulling but really wanted to say adios to refined sugars.

    What used to be red vines, sour patch kids, cookies, doughnuts etc, has now turned into this. I swear just cutting out the carby treats has helped my bloat. Yep, haven’t had a maple bar in 3 1/2 years, it’s a sad day lol! Also, did you know red vines are made with wheat? 😫  The Merry Bites here are flavored macaroons from Marlene’s and as you can tell, the bag is empty. They are SO good! The mint Lara bars are amazeballs straight from the freezer😋!

    Anyhoo, here’s my secret sauce to living a balanced life that still involves treats. These are clean cheats, but as in anything… moderation is the key!  As I lay these out for you, it’s dawning on me why I still have that last 5 lbs that won’t come off 😁 Cheers to even more moderation on top of my moderation. #thestruggleisreal #cleaneating #cleantreat

    The feeling of having energy ?and being strong??. Two of the best feelings ever! Well, and being able to walk into your closet and wear everything you own with the greatest of confidence. I didn’t always used to have them. I was lost in what to eat and what workouts worked best for me. Now I have a fire in my soul to help other women find what works for them. I want you to have everything you’ve wanted with your health and fitness goals. There’s no reason not to wait. Start taking care of yourself sooner than later. ?
