  • How to Lose Belly Fat?! It’s NOT a Secret!

    How to Lose Belly Fat!

How to lose belly fat?  Well, the problem with belly fat, is that a lot of times it comes off last.  So for most, we will work hard for a while, stay consistent for a short period of time and then not see the results we want.  For anyone wanting to know how to lose belly fat, this is great info!

Do you feel like you are doing everything “right” but it isn’t happening fast enough? Before you give up understand THESE things?

First Way How to Lose Belly Fat – Make a Plan

♥-It takes a 3500 calorie DEFICIT to lose one pound of fat. To lose an average of 2 lbs a week you need to burn or deplete 7000 calories. Two pounds of fat loss a week may not seem like a lot but that is 104 lbs in a YEAR! Now you may vary slightly, but losing “30 lbs in a month” of FAT is probably not the best for your body. You are losing MUSCLE mass at that point and you WILL rebound from that, gaining back fat, as muscle takes a lot more work to build.

So, start with a plan.  My Fitness Pal has both a great website and app that work wonderfully for counting calories and macros.  Macros are your main nutrients that food provide you.  Protein, fat and carbohydrates.  We are not going to break those down today, but I will in the future.  I am a phone girl and love this app.  It let’s me look back quickly at what I had the previous days and where I am at throughout the day.  They have a barcode scanner that works amazingly well.  Overall it really is a game changer and keeps us on the right path as we learn how to lose belly fat.

Talk to people.  Seriously, don’t be afraid to talk and reach out to people that you know try to eat healthy.  When I started this journey I knew nothing compared to what I know now, but I had to start.  My husband and I tried lots of different things and had successes and failures.  We still do!!  We are always learning!  There are people that know much more than me!  That doesn’t stop me from trying to be the best I can…which takes a plan.  So, write down what you are planning on doing and stick to it.  And if you fall off the plan one day, jump back on the next and know that there are 365 days in a year!!  It’s a war, and we want to win more daily battles than we lose…that’s where we will see the change.

Second way how to lose belly fat – Nutrition

♥-I want to start of this section making a brief point about “water weight”. Losing excess water and bloat is NOT a bad thing. Many are so bloated from poor processed food diets high in sodium and allergens. That excess water usually comes off week one, in addition to fat, on a healthy plan, which is why there is a greater loss week one of starting a program. Starvation and severe calorie restriction will NOT work. If you eat too little too frequently, you WILL train your body to STORE fat. Output must exceed input! If you eat more calories than you burn, you WILL GAIN weight. Period. YES, you should be eating protein, the right carbohydrates, and healthy fats, but PORTIONS still matter. Too many calories of ANY type of food will cause you to gain weight. If it sounds too good to be true, then it IS too good to be true. The only way to LOSE FAT and to keep it off is to workout hard and EAT unprocessed natural foods.

This fully ties into one’s nutrition.  If you want to know how to lose belly fat, you have to be willing to really take a hard look at what you’re eating.  I can have 1700 calories a day of junk, such as chips, candy, fruit, bread, which are high in carbohydrates, or just one piece of fruit, one piece of bread and fill in my other portions with leafy greens, Shakeology, lean meats, and other healthy variety of foods.  Your daily intake of food makes all the difference.  We all need healthy fats in our diet.  For example, avocados, nuts of all variety are going to be a healthy sort of fat.  But adding in ice cream daily, which can be broken down into calories just like almonds, can really make a difference in how to lose belly fat.  One is healthy and gives you necessary nutrition, the other just hurts your body.

One of the main things you need to remember is that water is your best friend…..and lots of it!!  Not a glass here or there, but a plan to drink at least half your body weight in ounces per day.  I weigh around 140lbs…..yep, I told you my weight…. and I try to drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.  It keeps me hydrated, my body functions better and think more clearly.  I also find that I have a lot more energy.  The biggest benefit has been that I always feel less bloated and my belly looks trimmer.  Seems weird, but that’s the way it works!

Third Way how to lose belly fat – Workout…..Hard

♥-You have to WORK when you “workout”. I know what the magazines say: long walks in the park, doing laundry and household chores, lifting your groceries are all forms of exercise. They are all movement and that is great for a healthy lifestyle but to CHANGE your body you need more than that. Unless you are working out with intensity (intensity for you whatever that is) and unless you continually PROGRESS and CHALLENGE how to lose belly fat, fit mom, top mommy blogsyourself you will not make changes to your body.

This means that you have to push yourself for 25-50 minutes 4-6 times per week.  And this means making your body sweat to the point you will need to wash your clothes!  The reason I chose to work with Beachbody was because I find that the at home workouts give me much less excuse not to do my daily workout.  I get a daily schedule, nutrition guide, Superfood shake and have a great plan of attack!

So, go make a plan.  Start learning a lot about nutrition and healthy options.  Then go work your booty off!  As you go through this process you will learn how to lose belly fat.  It is such a tough area on all of us and there is no shortcut for anyone.  You just have to work hard and make it a lifestyle!  I love helping others along this journey. I am always in the journey as well, in my own life! I will never reach a peak! I am always growing and changing, learning from others. If you do need some motivation…reach out, I love helping people! I believe I have the tools for us to succeed in this process and never ending battle, but you have to reach out and make the effort to connect!  Email me at [email protected] with the Subject line “Looking for a change!”. Then tell me a bit about what you’re looking to change! I look forward to learning from you as you take the steps to see major changes!  Thanks!

  • Daily Routine – Don’t Skip It!

    Daily Routine

Having a daily routine is so very important.  Listening to the BEST podcast on what a balanced approach is to nutrition. The top tips on what most fit people do. I did a lot of this naturally because I was so fed up wth crazy diets and restrictions, I had to find a way to live and feel GOOD in my body without feeling like everything was taken from me. Restrictions stink but some things need to be a “no-no”. For me that was excessive candy and fast food. I don’t like to think about what I took away when I lost my baby weight. I like to think about what I put in.  I set up a very structured daily routine to make sure that I would stay on task.  The following breaks down the main 4 things that I consistently do daily.

Here’s the 4 items that have helped me the most:

? One salad a day to your daily routine (And by salad I mean add carrots, cucumbers, almonds, dried cranberries, anything healthy really.  Here is an article on some ideas for what to put in your salad.)
? Way more water to your daily routine (at least 64 ounces, more if you are feeling under the weather.  My rule of thumb is half my body weight in ounces.)
? Daily exercise I enjoyed and could work into MY daily routine (21 Day Fix, Body Beast, Insanity and my favorite Turbofire are all between 30-50 minutes.  They are also all at home workouts, that I can fit in any time.  And Shakeology…everyday)
? Being at peace with knowing if I treating my body well, it would do what I wanted.  Now that it is a marathon and that my daily routine will help me finish this very long race.  It is NOT about sprinting and stopping after 2 weeks.

Those are my 4 rules.  If I continually make those 4 areas my daily routine, I tend to feel good and continually keep away the softness that I so very much dislike.  One last tip, which is very hard for me, focus on the wins.  That means the small victories.  For example, I might not lose much weight, may even gain weight, but because I take photos and measurements, I can always see small victories.  So, know that it will take time to see the change and that your body needs time and consistency to change.  I hope this helps and encourages you to push towards that ever changing transformation.  Go and make your daily routine that works for you!

  • Free Cruise! I Love What I Do!

    Going on a Free Cruise

A free cruise?!  Are you serious?! We might be geeking out right now that we just got our free room on this ship, and yes, we upgraded just a bit to get a room with a deck!  We get to hit up the Carribean for free!!  If that isn’t exciting, I don’t know what is!  I never thought this would be possible, I just started this venture because I felt uncomfortable in my own skin….how times have changed! ??

Being able to stay fit and help other people do the same has been an unexpected blessing to our fam. This trip is just one of the rewards we get for paying it forward. We’ve found something that works for us so we share it and get one vacation a year to celebrate it all!  I literally earned this free cruise by helping others in their health and fitness journeys.  So, by doing what I love, helping others with their goals, seeing the excitement of success and I get a free cruise for doing that……thank you very much, I’ll take it.  I literally helped 3-5 women a month throughout this last year and loving it!

Still seems like a dream! ?

The thing my husband and I love the most, is that we get to hang out with people with the same passion for helping others on this free cruise!  Most the other people going are in the same “boat” as us and have just been helping 3-5 people a month!  And, we are starting to have some of our team join us!  We are so excited for this adventure that is happening in early spring of next year!  On our way to see some of our local team right now and then a bday party with friends later. Kid free Saturday in the works.

  • What is a Goal? Something You Have to Prioritize.

    What is a Goal?

What is a goal?  What are goals?  According to Business Dictionary a goal is:  “An observable and measurable end result having one or more objectives to be achieved within a more or less fixed timeframe.”

What is a goal to me?  Well, it sure wasn’t the definition above in my life.  I would think about something and hope that I would accomplish it. Now, I live by goals and my number one is getting my workout in daily.  It is a non-negotiable!   Ahhhh, happy vibes are here! Sometimes I dread starting a workout but when it’s over…..my day is set. Nothing can compare to the feeling of a good workout. The rush of endorphins!!

    {{Honesty alert}}

When I first started setting goals for myself, I wasn’t fully sure it would work. I had the picture of what I wanted in my mind (the vision). I had a plan but after two kids, you just never know what your body will do. Plus, I was 35 and age does become a factor at some point and I was super busy with two little’s who needed me lots.

I was talking with a client about how we want so much more for ourselves to be healthy for our kids and feel beautiful for our hubs. I think she said it better than I could have. Here’s what we had in common:

Goals: be toned, fit into my clothes better, feel confident.

What is a goal I am working on now?  Owning my workouts. The feeling of accomplishing something that has been making me feel a little depressed for the last couple of years. That even when people tell me not to worry, it’s just part of getting older, and that I should just accept it. Instead of accepting it, I can look in the mirror and say I didn’t accept it. I conquered it! Getting older is not an excuse.

Fitness struggle: going to the gym and not knowing what I’m doing or if what I do will get me the results I want. Plus, the time it takes is too much sometimes.

Anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, not having clear direction. All things I struggled with before. Some of them will still pop up depending on what’s going on in my life but overall it’s a ton better. It is and will continue to be my mission to share what’s worked for me.

There should be nothing keeping us from how we want to feel!!  Make sure you know what is a goal and what you are going to do to accomplish it!

  • How to Better Yourself? Learn From Friends!

    How To Better Yourself

I ask myself all the time, how to better yourself.  My gorgeous friend Jessica has taught me so much about eating clean! We celebrated her baby girl due next month today and it got me thinking………??

This woman makes most things from scratch and it’s always beyond delicious. She also makes very healthy food this way.  It is amazing how she makes something taste so good, that I have conceived as being “not very good.”  Does she have the “time”? No, she is a full-time midwife, that busts her butt all the time helping other mothers, but she does it anyways because she appreciates quality food.  She is someone I can look up to and strive to become!

When you really look at how long it takes to make things from scratch, I’ve realized it’s not as complicated as I used to think. It just takes a little extra planning.  I also have to be creative and I have to stop making excuses.  Over the last few years I have really gotten some staple recipes that my family loves.

Food doesn’t have to be fried, dipped, battered, and overly sweet to taste amazing.  It doesn’t have to have a bunch of sugar or tons of salt.  It doesn’t need “cream of….” anything!  It for sure doesn’t have to have a bunch of dairy either, (though I won’t lie, I will never go without butter totally;)

It can be simple and fresh.

Sometimes it just helps to have someone make it look easy and you gain confidence in knowing that you too can create amazing things in a short amount of time.  Thanks so much Jess for all that you do and all that you are!  Baby Hazel is about to receive the best gift a child could have, her loving mother.  Thank you for being such an amazing friend and for pouring so much love into my life.  You are such a blessing!  Remember, never stop learning how to better yourself.

  • Weekend Weight Loss Tips!

    Weekend weight loss tips:

Use these weight loss tips.  Don’t turn your back on your goals this weekend.  I promise you’ll regret it. I’ve done this way too many times and I always feel super bummed on Monday. You work so hard during the week and the weekend should be fun but still in alignment with your goals. Here’s some weight loss tips for you:

    1. Do an extended cardio session. ?Take a long walk or run and get your mind ready for the week ahead.

    2. Give yourself one treat meal and enjoy it -guilt free. ??Make sure your other meals are fueling you and you’re also getting your water in. I get just on the weekends and let my meals/water take a back seat. Keep track and focus on it.

    3. Spend time prepping and shopping for the week ahead. This will save you more time and energy on those busy weekdays. Cook some meats, cut veggies and pre-cook rice or quinoa.

    4. Catch up on sleep, don’t deplete it. Proper sleep helps your body fight sickness and repairs it for better workouts.

❤Have so much fun but keep those goals in the back of your mind!! It is not an easy road at all but an ever so necessary one..  It is also not at all something you want to skip.  I have skipped it many times and have suffered the consequences.  I love having accountability!  Having a group of women, pushing you on is so important.  I know you can do anything, I’m your biggest fan! ❤

Remember that moderation is a huge key as well.  I seem to always forget to mention this one.  Just keep things palm sized.  You don’t need your entire arm!!  Keep up the hard work and dedication.  Thanks for checking out my weight loss tips.

  • Transformation Tuesday from Quebec!

    TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY!

Genevieve blows me away with this transformation Tuesday! She is a full time working mom and takes pride in her health every day. Here is a peek into her story and life ——->>>>>

“I did not lose much, less than 10 pounds. But the daily balance is my best tool to measure my progress. I prefer to look at how my clothes fit, take my measurements and some pictures. I’ve worked out for about 20 years, many years of running and gyms. I will be 40 soon. Honestly, I have never felt so well and healthy since I discovered Shakeology. The nutrients keep me going on the days I don’t have time to eat breakfast or lunch. The battle is a daily one. It’s not easy but I have to say I look and feel better than I ever have.”

Her French text says “I am too tired, I have a busy week but I can do it!! ”

Excuses don’t lead us to our final destination. Avoiding them is what takes you places. If you mess up, know there will be another opportunity to make a better choice. Get back on the right path and don’t worry about being perfect. Even if it takes longer than you thought, keep running to your destination.

I feel the exact same way as her! The daily habits are the ones we master, not getting on the scale. I love to brag on my fellow team mates because they work so hard not only on themselves but with all of their clients.

Well done my friend and thank you for letting me share part of your journey. I wish we lived closer!!! Maybe a trip to Quebec is in order someday soon XO  Another successful transformation Tuesday thanks Genevieve…you inspire me!

  • Stop Procrastinating and Feel Free!

    Stop Procrastinating …Get it Done!

Life can be hard.  Life can be busy, hectic, crazy.  You name it we will have an excuse for it.  Keeping my daily schedule is the key to stop procrastinating!  Setting an alarm, actually getting up when it goes off, and having a strategic plan is the most important part.  I think the book “Eat That Frog!” is one of the best resources for breaking down how to get things done, to stop procrastinating.

I used to be the queen of procrastination!! I’ve been learning to change. When the opportunity is there, I take it. It actually feels good to move on and get done. To FEEL FREE from my old habits.  Making lists,

I’ve been struggling with my daily dedication to my schedule lately. I stay up too late or don’t get my essential reading in! Anyone with me? I could get so mad at myself and have bigger set backs or just GET TO IT!!

Today is a new day, God’s mercies are new each morning and we are free to make the right choices and freedoms in our lives!

  • Be a Rolemodel, Kids are Always Watching!

    Being a Rolemodel

Is it possible to be a rolemodel?  I feel we mess up so very much, so much of the time.  When I think about the cycle of craziness we’ve been through with our health and fitness goals it makes me a little loco. After all these years together we have definitely had some good and bad moments.  Our two children have now seen a lot of it!

My husband, Matt, really made a change and really stepped up as a rolemodel for our family in 2012.  He started with P90X.  He was super focused….unfortunately while I was pregnant! ?  (He lost 65 pounds to be exact).  I’d be focused and he’d be too busy with work..the list goes on. It is for sure easier to do it together but if for some reason your guy isn’t on the same page, it’s your job to be the rolemodel.

I promise if you stick to it and stay true to your goals, your kids will follow you. They will see your better moods. Your energy levels increase. You sleeping like a baby.  They will see you being consistent.  They will see the discipline, the hardwork, the blood, sweat and tears.  They are always watching, so you are by default, their rolemodel…whether you like it or not.

Our kids love to run, try to do push ups, do yoga moves better than me half the time!  They are my inspiration, yet we have to take that mantle and be their inspiration!  It is all about loving them and leading them in being what we want them to become!  We need to expect the best for them.  Allow them to dream whatever they want and help them achieve those dreams, no matter how crazy they seem.  Giving them confidence in everything, allowing them the freedom to take flight.  But they must see the practice, the truth it takes day to day to make those dreams come true.  We must be their rolemodel, making an effort to be the best for them.

Be that rolemodel for what you want to see in them. Plus, if we do the grocery shopping, then we get to choose the menu! They will appreciate as they grow older and start understanding the importance of fitness and nutrition!?
