  • Home Remedies for Acne! Coconut Oil and Melaleuca.

    Home Remedies for Acne

I am always looking for new home remedies for acne.  I have dealt with acne my entire life.  It is one of the most annoying things that is a continual battle.  To those of you that deal with it as well, you can relate.

This magical combo had been helping me this past week. Melaleuca essential oil and organic extra virgin coconut oil did the trick!  I had a funny sore on the edge of my nose that would not heal. I did a little “googling” and after two applications and some vitamin C pill-popping, it’s almost gone!  I have found that Google has almost all the answers to everything in the entire world!  Then if I need to see it in video form, I go to You Tube!

As a family we try to steer clear of antibiotics as much as possible. We’ve been known to swallow garlic cloves and goofy stuff like that. I swear it works though! 😉  My husband will literally take three cloves, peel them, cut them up into small pill sized cubes, throw them in his mouth and then swallow them with a glass of water!!  Our at home gym smells a little garlicky from time to time!!

Now that this bottle of coconut oil is dedicated to skin treatments, I think I will start using it as a body moisturizer (especially on my feet) after the shower. I’ve heard it’s anti fungal, too!  Again, my husband only uses coconut oil as lotion for his skin.  He doesn’t do well with most lotions, so this is an amazing alternative, that is totally good for you!

Man, now to find more ways to use it!!

I love learning new ideas.  Any fun combos you’ve tried and loved, let me know any home remedies for acne?

So DO NOT worry about being able to dance!! You will learn and have a blast while doing it!

It will be dancing hip hop at its best. You will be burning calories and flinging off fat as you stay motivated throughout the entire time!

A little back story on me. I’m not a dancer. At all 😉

But I like to stay in shape, get the endorphin rush and energy I need from exercise. You don’t even think about the fact that you’re exercising and you are drenched in sweat after you’re done.

  • Moderation!! It is so Important.

    Moderation

Moderation is such an important part of our lives. But I also know that hitting it hard for a short period of time is what pushes you out of where you are, to where you want to be. I did that after baby number two for about 4-5 months.  I used the workout Turbofire with Chalene Johnson, who was perfect!

Adding a salad for lunch, daily, is my secret sauce, what keeps me in moderation. But after I hit my goal, I took a step back and told myself I would never quit. I would stick to a lifestyle change and not lose my progress or fall back to my old yo-yo patterns. I continually push play on these amazing workouts for women, and yes, that even means lifting weights!  I love Body Beast!  It has changed my body for the good, did not get me bulky….but definitely helped my curves!  😉

Speaking of Body Beast, I was super scared of lifting heavy weights.  My husband had been bugging me for a year, before I finally decided to give it a try.  It works.  It literally is amazing.  It is my go to in staying consistent.  I use it as a fill in.  It is just a great workout for any woman.  I know why I was so scared.  I thought I would bulk up, that I would get super big.  Weight lifting for women is so very important.  I recommend it in moderation.  You don’t need to go crazy, but it should be added to your regimen of monthly workouts.

Going extreme all the time works for about 2% of people and really makes you run the risk of injury.  Let’s be women of moderation.  Let’s be women who never quit and who keep the healthy lifestyle going always! Push through, stay consistent, don’t give up!  Who’s with me?!

  • Travel Tips to Help you Come Home Happy!

    Travel Tips I Have Learned

One of my best friends decided to get married in Puerto Vallarta, so I had to be ready….  Here is what commenced…my 5 Travel Tips to live by.  I also included a couple gluten-free lunch ideas and tips!!  😉

    Travel Tips #1:
When you first wake up, drink a ton of water. A ton! Almost a whole liter if you can stomach it. It will help flush all the toxins from your body and make you feel energized and awake.

5 Travel Tips to Help you Come Home Happy! 1

    Travel Tips #2
Order all burgers, sandwiches and appetizers on lettuce instead of the bun.
We ordered tuna tartar on lettuce instead of the fried crispy rice cakes. It’s just as delicious and way less calories! #glutenfree

5 Travel Tips to Help you Come Home Happy! 2

    Travel Tips #3
Wake up and workout right away so you’re done with it! No excuses and no time to change your mind!

5 Travel Tips to Help you Come Home Happy! 3

    Travel Tips #4
A good friend of mine brought this to my attention the other day. Ordering your eggs poached is a healthier alternative because they are cooked in water and not an oil filled pan. They taste just as good, too! I ate the eggs and asparagus but skipped the crab cakes and sauce. Being gluten-free at a resort is tricky but I’m learning how to adjust and tweak things 😉

P.S. I had never had poached eggs until about 2 years ago. Are you a fan or not?

    Travel Tips #5
Buy a comfy sundress from a beach vendor and know that the skinny margarita bloat will dissipate eventually 😉  Oh, and if you are going to drink, definitely try to find items like a skinny margarita.  Taking out the sugary mixer, with a bunch of junk isn’t all that bad!  Ask for more lime juice.

My food tip of the day is… Enjoy yourself.
Especially when it comes to guacamole. Avocados have so many healthy fats and health benefits but if you are going to use avocado, limit the amount of cheese or nuts you are having that day. Too many healthy fats can add up. The amount you need in a day is about 1/4 cup of cheese or avocado and may 3 Tbs of nuts. This helps me keep my portions down and mindful of what my body actually needs. Like this if you are an avocado person, too!  I hope this helps and feel free to share any travel tips you have learned on your adventures.

  • Transformation! Jennifer gets fit!

    transformation tuesday

Jennifer and I have been connected for over a year now and her transformation is so inspiring. She recently shared this picture in our group and I asked her if she would be willing to share her story. With tears in my eyes as I read this, I wish Jennifer and I lived closer so I could give her a big hug! She checked in the group almost daily and was dedicated beyond most. She is an example of what a healthy, strong woman is and does. Here is her story:

When you are ok with you who are on the inside, everything on the outside falls into place. It took me 35 years to figure this out, and this lesson has changed my life.

I spent a lot of time trying to be what I thought everyone else wanted, pushing aside how I felt and what I wanted for my own life. I always felt like I was never quite good enough…not even for myself.

You can only neglect yourself for so long before you start to forget who you are. You not only lose your confidence, but you also start to lose your health.

A few years ago, my world came crashing down. My dad died. I was in a car accident, and I was diagnosed with endometriosis. What was supposed to be routine surgery put me out of work for three months. Looking back, this should have been a wakeup call to slow down, but I had responsibilities and people I couldn’t let down. I started working harder than ever, and my health got worse.

At 220+ pounds, I was feeling pretty miserable, not just physically. I avoided most social situations, and I was often afraid to speak up. I rarely did anything fun. Looking back, I see I was hiding from my own life.

The only time I felt well was when I was moving. I started doing tae-bo and lost 30 pounds. I wasn’t consistent and didn’t know anything about nutrition. I gained ten back. This woke something up inside of me. It made me angry. I was determined not to go back to the way I was, and by December 2012 I was serious.

In 2013, I started to educate myself on what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. I read every article I could get my hands on. I learned about myfitnesspal, and I started logging all my foods, something I still do today.

I also discovered Beachbody. I wanted to challenge myself, and Insanity was the hardest program out there. I paused the videos constantly, but I finished the program. Getting that t-shirt was the best feeling ever.  They are the perfect workouts for women!!

I’ve been hooked on Beachbody ever since. Besides Insanity, I’ve completed Les Mills Combat, Les Mills Pump, a Shakeology challenge, and P90X3. I’m one week away from finishing T25, and I have 2.5 weeks left of Body Beast. I also run several days a week and recently did my first 10K.

My health is now the one area where I put myself first. Workouts are non-negotiable. 6 days a week. My diet is pretty strict as well. All whole foods all the time, very little processed. I put a lot of planning into my meals, packing work lunches the night before. I love experimenting with recipes from sites like skinnytaste.com, and it turns out I’m a pretty good cook!

I’m down to 138 pounds now, and I’ve kept it off for a few years. I’m still working on building muscle and toning up. It’s hard to see changes now, but I feel stronger every day. The best part is not looking better but feeling healthy and strong.

Bettering my health has made me feel capable like no other accomplishment ever has. Because I feel capable I am more outgoing. Life now has so many possibilities. And the last few years have brought so many wonderful experiences. Taking responsibility for my health has helped me learn I have to do the same with the rest of my life too. I’m responsible for making sure my life is full and happy, and along the way my example is helping others too.

Can we please give her a shout out and feel free to share this if you can relate.

Well done my friend, well done!

Free People Clothing: My Style in Every Way

Free People clothing are soooo cute.  Here’s my outfit:

    • Free People Dress
    • Forever 21 White Hand Bag!!!!
    • Charles David – Wedge Heel
    • Tom Ford Sunglasses

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love Free People Clothing.  It is definitely my favorite clothing boutique store right now. Yes, Nordstroms, my first true love, is still overall my favorite, because it has everything, but from a specialty boutique style, Free People is where it’s at.  They also have great sales!  I picked up this lovely dress for under $40!!  That is a score in my book.  It isn’t easy finding unique, individual pieces.  I can pair this with flats, high heels, booties…you name it…it works!

So, if you are looking to go out on a date, with your spouse, significant other, work party or just want to be able to stroll around feeling amazing, go stop by and get a Free People dress!

I love being comfy, yet try to be stylish.  This was a great outfit for walking Bellevue, feeling cute, and warm enough in the shade!

  • Fitness Transformation Tuesday! Michelle is killing it!

    Transformation tuesday TIME!!!

The more I work with women, the more passionate I get about their transformation Tuesday. This woman has rocked her workouts from the beginning. I remember last year when she did her first challenge group with me.  She completed both 21 Day Fix and Insanity.   She stood out from the rest because I could tell she didn’t slack. She showed up and gave 110% every day. THAT is rare!! It encouraged me tons (just another perk of my job).

Here’s Michelle’s stats and a bit of her journey so far:

“I’ve gone down 3 pant sizes chest went from 38-39 to 33-34 weight loss 28 lbs. Yes I have slipped from time to time, but I get back up dust myself off and jump right back in it. My mind set use to be so negative and bogged down, I hated taking pics I wasn’t very social because I wasn’t happy with the way I looked on the outside. Today I know I’m not perfect, but I have learned to love myself and to continue taking care of myself which has been life changing in every single area of my life!”

When I asked her what mindsets she’s noticed changing the most (because we all know this is just as much mental as it is physical) she replied with:

“I remind myself every day that ‘I am worth it’.  This is not a joke and my transformation Tuesday can inspire other women to do the same!”

Michelle, you are worth it! We all are worth a little self-love. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey XO!!!  Another transformation Tuesday in the books!
