Oct 15 2016 Healthy Tips Before Heading To Bed
Thinking back to earlier years when I lived on my own, I would stay up late watching Three’s Company and drinking milk through red vines (true story), then I switched to snacking on sour patch kids before bed while I fell asleep to the t.v.
These were habits I had for most of my early 20’s😐. I still can’t believe what I put in my body right before it went into repair mode. 😰💤
It wasn’t just a lack of knowledge or ignorance, it was a way to cope. To leave reality and de-stress. Other times I’ve used wine.
I’m so glad tonight as I think back to those times, that I can find new ways to cope. I can’t imagine what my poor body was thinking and all the cells I damaged 😱
New habits are being formed and I will try to reverse some of the damage I’ve done to my body.
If you struggle, know that if you want it bad enough, you can change those nasty old habits into habits that will improve every area of your life. I believe that for you!
👉🏻 Just a couple new habits I’ve made. Flossing every night (I’m in my 3rd week 🙌🏼). Peptide lip therapy every night (PCA is my favorite). Mainly because lip injections rarely turn out pretty so I need to prevent the breakdown 👄☺️jk! Diffusing oils and reading.
My new little oil diffuser for our bedroom was on sale at Super Supplements today so I have lavender in it for beddie-bye. It has a burst mode feature that lets it turn on every 10 minutes. We have one for the living room/kitchen, too! I have to say that oils are better than candles to me.
I’m so thankful for my friends that introduced me to all these tricks and healthy tips! Not sure where I’d be without such amazing women to learn from. 💞💞💞💞💞👭#lovemyfriends #antiaging #pcaskin #lavendar #myfavoriteoil

💓Blueberry Protein Muffins Gluten Free / Dairy Free
Need a quick easy breakfast idea? Want to make sure it is as healthy as possible and anyone in the family can have them? This little blueberry protein muffins are loved by everyone in our home. If you need a quick fix in the morning or throughout the day, these have worked well for me!
Blueberry Protein Muffins Recipe:
1 can pumpkin
4 eggs
3 ripe bananas
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups almond flour
1/2 cup coconut flour
2 cups frozen or fresh blueberries
3 Tbs olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
2 Tbsp honey
Spray muffin papers and preheat oven to 350°. Mix everything and add blueberries and walnuts last. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. They freeze well and the kids LOVE them. The pear. My favorite healthy fruit. Hands down.
I’ve been teaching the kids (and reminding myself) that food has life in it. We’ve been playing the game of…”Does this food have life in it?”
Let’s just say that Pirate’s Booty or gluten free pretzels do not contain life, 😂👌🏻 even though it’s their favorite crunchy snack. Everything in moderation 😉
This is the reason we don’t eat fast food. My prayer is that they understand these concepts early. I didn’t until I was 30ish 😳😩#nobueno
Why pears?
Here’s a little infographic breaking down some of the major benefits of pears:
- Pears are one of the highest-fiber fruits, offering six grams per medium-sized fruit, helping you meet your daily requirement of 25 to 30 grams. Filling up on fiber keeps you regular to prevent a bloated belly caused by constipation, which also helps prevent colon cancer. - Pears also contain boron, which our bodies need in order to retain calcium, so this fruit can also be linked to prevention of osteoporosis.
- The phytonutrients found in pears are also associated with preventing stomach cancer.
- It’s a hypoallergenic fruit, which means those with food sensitivities can usually eat pears with no adverse effects.
- Eating three or more servings of fruits a day, such as pears, may also lower your risk of age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), the primary cause of vision loss in older adults.
- Quercetin is another antioxidant found in the skin of pears. It’s beneficial for cancer prevention and can help reduce blood pressure, so don’t peel your pears!

Pears are a normal commodity in our home. I love cutting them up and having them at the ready for the kids after school. They are such a healthy fruit and so worth having in your diet.

Here are all my current “clean cheats” 🙌🏻I’ve been collecting ideas over the last few years since going gluten-free. I have that darn sweet tooth that needs pulling but really wanted to say adios to refined sugars.
What used to be red vines, sour patch kids, cookies, doughnuts etc, has now turned into this. I swear just cutting out the carby treats has helped my bloat. Yep, haven’t had a maple bar in 3 1/2 years, it’s a sad day lol! Also, did you know red vines are made with wheat? 😫 The Merry Bites here are flavored macaroons from Marlene’s and as you can tell, the bag is empty. They are SO good! The mint Lara bars are amazeballs straight from the freezer😋!
Anyhoo, here’s my secret sauce to living a balanced life that still involves treats. These are clean cheats, but as in anything… moderation is the key! As I lay these out for you, it’s dawning on me why I still have that last 5 lbs that won’t come off 😁 Cheers to even more moderation on top of my moderation. #thestruggleisreal #cleaneating #cleantreat

My Journey
This is my journey. In the picture on the left, I felt trapped in my own body. Because I didn’t struggle with my weight much growing up, my 20’s were a hard spot. I couldn’t eat what I wanted anymore and keep the weight off. It was so HARD for me to lose weight. I swear, I would have given my right arm to drop JUST 5 lbs. I had no idea how to eat “clean”, I only knew crash diets or extreme cleanses. You know, I tried so many different things that ended up hurting me. Can you relate? I thought every meal needed to taste perfect and literally be covered in cheese. I would sometimes eat fast food twice a day and often leave the house at 8 p.m. to go buy ice cream, chocolate or sour patch kids. Finally, I came to the fact, I knew there was something better for me and I was on the hunt! I knew I could feel alive inside and happy with my body. I believed it!
The search finally led me to a community of people who had found what I wanted. They found balance and simplicity. They found a system that was normal and easy and totally doable for someone like me. A busy mom of two who just needed a plan.🙋🏼 I needed to take care of myself for my family and find a way to teach healthy habits to my kids. I was so happy and prayed it would work for me!! Well, it did!
I found daily superfoods/vitamins that replaced a meal or snack. I found friends who needed to do stuff at home while their kids napped but we could still check in online for support. I found short (freaking awesome) workouts that get it done and transform bodies. I found my light. ✨The girl that I had been searching for could finally come to life. The weight came off, the habits were formed. I figured out how to eat so that I felt good for my workouts and my body would respond in a positive way.
The journey continues and I now get to help others “find” what they are looking for. If you at all feel lost or frustrated…please reach out. I can promise you the small investment you’ll make to start your positive journey will be the best money you’ve ever spent!!! It’s dollars a day for HUGE gains. I’ve never seen anything quite like this and I’ll never stop spreading the word on how awesome it is!!! Love yourself and your family enough to make this change❤️Our next challenge is Sept. 5th!
