    Week Two Liift 4 Review – A Mom’s Weight Loss Transformation!

    This week has been full of ups and downs!  I didn’t get enough sleep which can hurt with progress and I didn’t feel or see many changes in my weight or body.

    I stuck to the plan and did some fun shorter workouts on my free days.  I always workout six days a week even when the plan is only four.  I just feel better when I push play more often. I feel more alive once I’ve moved my body.
    Some realizations I had this week reminded me that change lives in the hard moments.  Change happens when I want to give up and don’t.  During the jump squats or mountain climbers, when I want to drop to my knees and stop, I dig deep and push harder.  I know I have a reserve I can tap into and once I do, I build my inner strength.
    I’m hopeful that in a few days I will wake up and see the changes I think I deserved this week. And if I don’t, I won’t quit. I will stay in the game and push just as hard because the results will come.  They will happen. I trust and believe.  I also know that even though I gave up alcohol, my nutrition hasn’t been 100% on point.  I drink my superfoods daily and focus on my containers but I also sneak treats like Trader Joe’s Power Berries, and extra peanut butter.  Dialing in sleep and nutrition this week and I can’t wait to see how I’ll feel!!

    I love the effortless style a pretty dress can bring from Free People.  Being able to throw one on, while not worrying about a bra strap showing or what shoes you “have” to wear with it can be so freeing.

    This dress is a simple way to feel put together for Fall.  Since I’m a huge fan of Free People, I needed to show you this dress.  I have longer arms and Free People seems to always work well for that.  I wore it all day and felt so comfortable and cute.

    I packed these boots on our weekend getaway but quickly realized a shorter bootie would have shown some leg and been really cute too.  I think I might even wear it with some Hunter boots as a true “mom style” look.
    Anyway you wear it, I will always like a long-sleeved dress.  It doesn’t show too much skin so can be a fun girls night outfit or even a date night. You could go for a delicious dinner with your love and leave the restaurant not feeling like a stuffed pig in skinny jeans.

    So, my boots are Marc Fisher knee high boots.  I bought them last year at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  Unfortunately, they aren’t available any longer, but I have included a couple alternatives!  I know these styles will look amazing and your significant other will love them too! 😉

    Ways to Stop Drinking Alcohol, Specifically Wine to Help With My Weight Loss Transformation!

    I’m the girl who constantly wonders when the appropriate time of day is to switch from coffee to wine. I’d say those are my two favorite treat drinks.

    I’ve learned to find alternatives for the things I love but don’t serve my goals.

    I want to enjoy life to the fullest!! These yummy drinks help me feel satisfied and at peace with the fact that I’m making a better choice for my overall health.

    My top favorites are:

    1. Tazo Lemon Load Tea
    2. Zevia Cream Soda
    3. Coconut La Croix
    4. Lemon Ginger Water


    Here’s the recipe for the lemon ginger water:

    Juice from two lemons
    Pinch of cayenne to taste
    2-3 drops of vanilla liquid stevia
    1-2 one inch chucks of peeled ginger to taste

    I blended all ingredients with one cup of water and then strain off the ginger pulp with a fine mesh strainer.

    I then mix with a gallon of water and pre-fill my water bottles for the day!

    So much tastier than you might think! I love little tricks of the trade. I would have never known about this if it wasn’t for my fit community.

    P.S. it’s not husband or kid approved. Maybe just a mom approved who has goals but also wants a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon tonight?!

  • Freedom is What it is All About! What Does Freedom Look Like To You?

    The Process of Understanding True Freedom

    Freedom?  What does that word even mean?

    Steady Eddie. That’s how I describe my personality. No surprises or risks too often for me, no thanks. With 8 years in Nordstrom cosmetics and 5 years in esthetics, I stick with what I love.

    👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Once I became a mom of two, I needed something to let me stay home and be mama but also something that would help me live a healthier (more accountable) lifestyle. Something that wouldn’t make me work harder, longer hours but that would have a positive compounding effect in my life. After I lost 40 lbs of baby weight and bloat, I was still not convinced this coaching opportunity was for me. Why? Because network marketing made me feel icky, like this strange salesperson or something. I had even made Matt pinky swear that we were only signing up for the discount, nothing else. But I was in these private groups of coaches and had access to The National Wakeup Call so of course my curiosity got the best of me. There were so many women who’s confidence and purpose in life had done a 180 degree turn since they started coaching. Everything was more positive!


    🙇🏼‍♀️Mainly what stuck out to my small way of thinking, was the freedom. The freedom with their time and money. Those two didn’t go together in my brain. I mean, we all want a good amount of both, am I right? Not just for selfish reasons but to be able to bless others and not feel tied down to a pay check or debt.

    ✈️To be able to pick up and go to Disneyland or on a weekend getaway whenever we wanted sounded so cool to me! To experience life through travel and give to my favorite causes sounded incredible.

    Consistency Creates Freedom

    🗓Now, 3 years later, I can see it happening to me and so many of my friends who took this leap with me. I trusted the process and figured the time was going to pass anyway. I simply share my love for this lifestyle that got me out of my baby blues funk and let me be free from a day job! The only thing I had to gain was freedom and I can say I’ve gained so much more than that! I feel accomplished, more confident, able to push past those old comfort zones. Almost like I’m a different person. God has blessed me with this so how can I not share!???

  • Shiny Thoughts and a Bonus Blueberry Paleo Muffins Recipe


          I just finished my seventh personal development book of the year!  Energy Bus.  I highly recommend.  Being more self aware and RAISING my vibration is part of my job description.  How cool, right?  As a coach, I’ve learned how positive vibes raise your vibration!! Your VIBE attracts your TRIBE. 

    Once you get a feel for it, you simply want only GOOD vibes in your life.  You start to see the positive in everything and want more swirling around you as you soak it all in.   If I were to complain all day, I would probably just find more to complain about.  I want the opposite in my life.  There are enough struggles we face, keeping our minds focused on gratitude keeps us moving in the right direction.  

    So what’s YOUR vibe? Grab a piece of paper and write down 3 words you think your friends would use to describe you. Be honest; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then write down 3 different words you would use to describe yourself. How do these words make you feel? 

    Take note.

    Then each morning right down 3 things you are thankful for and 3 things you are going to do to win the day.  It will start you off right!!  The power of 3’s has been HUGE for me!  

    Let’s decide in what ways we could do better, shine brighter, smile more, and give more love. Each day, set an intention for yourself. Patience, kindness, self-love, and understanding are just a few good ones! There is POWER behind intention. Let’s go after it!  We’ve got this.

    Blueberry Paleo Muffins
    (Grain Free, Gluten Free, Low Carb)
    AUTHOR: Adriana Harlan –
    PREP TIME:  15 mins
    COOK TIME:  20 mins
    SERVES: 6


    • 1 cup blanched almond flour
    • ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
    • pinch of salt
    • 2 tablespoons raw honey
    • ½ cup coconut milk, full fat
    • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
    • 1 egg, room temperature
    • ¼ cup fresh blueberries (frozen blueberries will not work)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ⅓ cup of dark chocolate chips
    • ¼ cup chopped nuts
    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with baking cups, or use a non-stick silicone muffin pan.
    2. Mix together the almond flour, baking soda and salt.
    3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, coconut milk, coconut oil, and egg.
    4. Using a rubber spatula, mix the wet and dry ingredients together. Do not over mix.
    5. Gently fold in the blueberries into the batter.
    6. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each to the top.
    7. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 20-25 minutes.
    8. Set pan over a wire rack to cool. Wait until muffins are completely cool before serving.
    Cook’s Notes
    Store in an airtight container in the fridge or freeze for another time.  
    Double the recipe to make 12 blueberry paleo muffins.
  • 3 Day Refresh and a Favorite Recipe

    3 Day Refresh

    My “team-player” of a husband and I just finished up our 3 Day Refresh challenge and I wanted to fill YOU in on all of it!  If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a 3 day cleanse to reboot your system, pave the way for some new healthy habits, try new food combinations and just let your body REST.  There are a lot of healthy fats and proteins incorporated so you feel satiated and full most of the time.  Most 😉

    Here’s the deal.  I like to eat.  I enjoy food.  You’ll never hear me say I forgot to eat or catch me not thinking about my next meal.  It’s who I am.  Luckily, I’ve learned how to eat CLEAN with portion control thanks to my fit tribe and favorite trainers.  I have taught myself to enjoy kale, salads and use way less condiments and cheese.

    So, to do a three day cleanse like this is not my STYLE.  I come from a background of binging on sugar, snacking too late at night, fast food a few times a week and using food to cover up what I was really feeling.  I used it to cope. 

    I know that is NOT healthy but it’s what I fall back on most when I lose my footing on my journey. Once in awhile, I stop…re-evaluate things, take a break and just say “no” for a bit.

    The highlights:

    I didn’t lose weight but an inch off my waist and feel lighter, TIGHTER 💪🏻and more energized!  On our team we focus on Non-Scale Victories so I’m NOT sad one bit!  

    In the past when I’ve completed this 3 day cleanse, I’ve lost up to 5 lbs!  3-5 lbs is normal for most women to lose.

    We loved the nine different dinner options and veggie combinations.  I was REALLY happy with the fruit allowance, too.  We did it over the weekend so it was nice to see how much self-control we truly possessed when we put our mind to something.  

    Also, lots of walking and sleep!  Hence the name of the 3 day cleanse { REFRESH } Our little date walks were nice since the kids were sleeping over with Grandma and Grandpa.  You will want to do yoga, light exercise and/or walking only.  On 900 calories, strenuous workouts would make you feel really light headed and weak.

    This is PERFECT for you if you need a break from all the toxins and craziness of life.  If you are headed on vacay or just coming home and need to kick start your bod! It’s also good to have something spelled out for you so you don’t have to think or map it out yourself!

    Cucumber and Tomato Salad Recipe For the 3 Day Refresh

    Cucumber And Tomato Salad Recipe, 3 Day Refresh

    1 large cucumber, peeled and cut

    1 cup cherry tomatoes, cut in half

    1 Tbsp chopped red onion

    1 Tbsp chopped fresh basil, dill, or parsley.  (I prefer mostly dill with a little basil)

    1 dash Himalayan salt

    1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil

    2 tsp fresh lemon juice

    1 tsp balsamic vinegar

    1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

    Combine everything in a bowl, stir and refrigerate for 20 minutes or serve on the spot.  SO GOOD!!!!!

  • Get Glowing Skin and Keep IT!

    Glowing Skin is NOT wrinkles, pimples and age spots — we dislike them all!!!

    I would know, I used to have horrible skin. Acne and I were close friends much to my dismay.. like the big, cystic and painful acne. I would want to call in sick to work acne. I took all measures growing up trying to ditch it. Two rounds of Accutane, every prescription gel, retinol, and cream possible. Most of it did nothing!!! Glowing skin seemed like a fantasy world I would never be a part of. Talk about a confidence killer!! Don’t even get me started on wrinkles… no bueno!

    But over the years, as I’ve followed this path toward a healthier lifestyle, I’ve found solutions to help all my skin problems nearly disappear. I’m a makeup artist and esthetician by trade and still had a hard time troubleshooting my skin. Until I changed my nutrition. You see, our skin is the largest organ we have. If it is having problems, that’s a sign something’s not right on the inside. Now I’ve got beautiful, healthy and glowing skin I can be dang proud of and the best part is that I was able to get here ​​naturally!

    I want to share four tips that I’ve followed, that will help you not only start improving the health and look of your skin now, but also how to help undo any damage you’ve done, to return it to that glowing skin we all want.

    Tip #1: Say Goodbye to Gluten

    This is my number one, absolute must tip to having amazing, glowing skin! Here’s the deal with gluten, not all gluten is made the same. Over the years, it’s been modified to cause more damage then actually add healthy nutrition to our body. Especially in the U.S., today’s gluten is more of a stress inducer for your body. It causes inflammation in most of us and some more sensitive to it than others, but let’s just say I won’t touch the stuff with a ten-foot pole. All those added stressors on our system means wrinkles, acne, brown spots — and let’s be real… nobody wants that.

    The stress in your body caused by gluten causes your skin to look dull and aged. Did you know that gluten is possibly linked to psoriasis, patchy skin and eczema? I’m just saying. I went gluten-free 4 years ago and not only does my tummy look less bloated, my skin has never looked better. 

    Before you start to think you can’t handle one more project to tackle like going gluten-free, let me tell you it’s WAY easier than you may think! There are so many healthy alternatives to gluten products, you just have to know what to look for. You can get all of my tips, tricks, and downloads in this FREE private Facebook Group.     Tip #2: Roots and Fruits

    Root vegetables and fruits are pretty close to the Fountain of Youth. You should be eating these regularly! Eating root veggies and beautiful fruits, flood the bloodstream with nutrients that your body needs to make glowing skin! Glowing skin, stacy rody, healthy tips, makeup tipsYour skin is clearer, the whites of your eyes are brighter, you sleep better — so why wouldn’t you eat them?

    I know there are some people out there who say, “Should we really be eating fruits and root vegetables? Those have a lot of sugar in them.” Let’s get real for a second, it’s MUCH better than grabbing a granola bar full of preservatives and sugars. The sugars you’re supposed to avoid are things like high fructose corn syrup and the junk that’s in your processed foods. If you’re eating things like beets, sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots, cherries, blueberries, raspberries, plums, pineapples, you’re doing your body GOOD! Your body and skin will thank you for it by looking beautiful and feeling radiant.

    It’s also worth mentioning that your brain runs on pure glucose. If you’re cutting out root vegetables and fruits from your diet, your body is going to feel it.


    Tip #3: Watch the Oils

    All the nasty oils in everything like Canola Oil, Sunflower Oil, etc., these are all stressors and toxins to your body. Did you know that the stress and toxins produced by oils and gluten actually prevents collagen from developing? No wonder so many people are struggling with getting and maintaining healthy skin! I use organic cold-pressed olive oil in my salad dressings and avocado or coconut oil for heated cooking. You don’t want to over heat olive oil or it turns rancid.

    Remember how I mentioned our skin will tell us when something is off? If you’re eating those sugars, processed foods, fast food and cooking with all that oil that turns toxic and rancid, your body will give you signals to let you know something’s not right. We must read labels and educate ourselves to be in our BEST health NOW.


    Tip #4: Silky sleep

    I’m a side sleeper and my cheeks stay planted against the pillow at night. Fortunately, I’m sleeping on a silk pillowcase. I’ve had it for almost 8 years and it looks brand new and I don’t have to worry about getting those nasty sleep wrinkles. Here’s the thing, if you’re sleeping on cotton sheets or anything other than silk, those are harder surfaces and can create wrinkles if your skin is smudged against the fabric all night. With silk sheets, your skin glides and doesn’t scrunch, so it helps to prevent those wrinkles that give you a forced, aged look. It’s great for preventing breakage on your hair and that’s how I originally learned about the benefits (shout out to my stylist!).

    Bonus Tip: Stay hydrated!

    Your skin is not going to look good if it’s not hydrated. Glowing skin, stacy rody, healthy tips, makeup tips
    Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you’ve got a sweet tooth, skip the soda and opt for things like Kombucha, La Croix or Zevia. I also love 1/2 lemon squeezed into an 8 oz glass of water first thing in the morning.


    Above all else, remember your body is a miracle!! It knows how to work and it wants to work and function to be vibrant and healthy. You just need to help it get there and stay that way. Stop treating your body like a garbage can, putting junk into it and start treating it like the gift it is.  Then you will have that glowing skin you’ve always wanted!!
