    The Process of Understanding True Freedom

    Freedom?  What does that word even mean?

    Steady Eddie. That’s how I describe my personality. No surprises or risks too often for me, no thanks. With 8 years in Nordstrom cosmetics and 5 years in esthetics, I stick with what I love.

    👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Once I became a mom of two, I needed something to let me stay home and be mama but also something that would help me live a healthier (more accountable) lifestyle. Something that wouldn’t make me work harder, longer hours but that would have a positive compounding effect in my life. After I lost 40 lbs of baby weight and bloat, I was still not convinced this coaching opportunity was for me. Why? Because network marketing made me feel icky, like this strange salesperson or something. I had even made Matt pinky swear that we were only signing up for the discount, nothing else. But I was in these private groups of coaches and had access to The National Wakeup Call so of course my curiosity got the best of me. There were so many women who’s confidence and purpose in life had done a 180 degree turn since they started coaching. Everything was more positive!

    Freedom

    🙇🏼‍♀️Mainly what stuck out to my small way of thinking, was the freedom. The freedom with their time and money. Those two didn’t go together in my brain. I mean, we all want a good amount of both, am I right? Not just for selfish reasons but to be able to bless others and not feel tied down to a pay check or debt.

    ✈️To be able to pick up and go to Disneyland or on a weekend getaway whenever we wanted sounded so cool to me! To experience life through travel and give to my favorite causes sounded incredible.

    Consistency Creates Freedom

    🗓Now, 3 years later, I can see it happening to me and so many of my friends who took this leap with me. I trusted the process and figured the time was going to pass anyway. I simply share my love for this lifestyle that got me out of my baby blues funk and let me be free from a day job! The only thing I had to gain was freedom and I can say I’ve gained so much more than that! I feel accomplished, more confident, able to push past those old comfort zones. Almost like I’m a different person. God has blessed me with this so how can I not share!???

    Week Three Review Of 80 Day Obsession – A Mom’s Journey of Weight Loss Transformation!

    I wish I had some amazing stats for you but I’m not checking my numbers until after Phase One is complete! I know better than to stir myself up (or deflate) because of the scale. Trusting the process this week has been good for me. Autumn even addresses that there are “slow losers” and that’s just how our bodies change. I’ve had rapid loss before but I was nursing a baby and had very low caloric intake. High nutrients levels but still low intake. I had very little muscle at that time. Now, I truly want to build shape and muscle so eating all these timed meals aligns perfectly with my goals. Some challenges this week. Headaches which I never get so I’m blaming the full moon, still not enough water throughout my day and too much peanut butter!! There I said it, feels good to get that off my chest lol!

    The wins this week. Many of the girls in the group have had crazy cool before and after pics! They are losing inches and lbs. We are all still committed to our personal development through reading books and speaking kindly to ourselves.

    Onward and upward to week 4! We had a mini-vacay planned so wish me luck. It’s always tricky when you can’t do the same things you used to do on vacation aka #drinkallthewine

    Week Two Review of 80 Day Obsession – A Mom’s Journey of Weight Loss Transformation

    Week 2 is in the books for 80 Day Obsession! I have to say it was a bit more of a struggle than I anticipated. I felt emotional, tired and not quite as driven as I had been in week 1. That is bound to happen though. This is real life and it’s a real health journey that has it’s ups and downs. I know the most important part is showing up and giving it my best.

    The food is great, I don’t think I’ll ever run out of ideas or options thanks to the cooking show, our accountability group and the endless recipes available to me with the On Demand membership. Although I did sneak some chocolate and kombucha, I decided those don’t serve my goal and so they aren’t allowed to follow me into week 3. Notice how I said decide? That’s what does it for me. I have to set my mind to it and then follow through with everything I have in me. My transformation is just too important to me to let sneaky snacks sabotage my progress.

    I can see more rounded muscles in my glutes and even though I was sore, it felt good. This is not for a beginner but if you have a fitness baseline at all, I highly recommend it. She plays with the rep number and sequence so there is never a repetitive feel even though you are doing the same moves. Some friends and I were talking about how much we love it and decided it truly feels like you’re seeing a trainer who designed the program just for you. Incredible experience thus far and I can’t wait to fill you in on week 3 of 80 Day Obsession.

    I was unusually tired and pretty sore but I felt lean and in control which is what I’m truly after. When food and wine starts to take a hold on me, I know it’s time to go hard for a while and clean out my system. The rewards are higher than the sacrifice which is reason #8,402 why I am loving this plan! I get to build long beautiful muscles as I shed the fat!!   • Dear Abs… A letter to myself!

    Dear abs,

    First off, I love you. I appreciate you because you continually remind me of how STRONG I am.

    You carried two beautiful miracles within your walls.

    You look strong and defined when I’m on point with my fitness & nutrition (aka no sugar and wine) and bloated to crap when I’m being lazy. When it looks like I’ve swallowed a giant marshmallow, I’m reminded it’s GO time again and I need to check myself and get moving. In the right lighting, with a good spray tan and the right angles, you look lean in pictures. But when I’m in plank and doing quick feet, well, you look less than desirable.

    Dear abs, you motivate me to keep pushing because you’re the very last thing to change. The very last 🙄. You look smoother and smoother with the muscle development growing under you, so thanks. I’ll keep pushing. You look BETTER now than before I had kids so I’ll take it. You may never be what I want you to be but I’m forever grateful for your motivation. You keep me curious as to what can truly happen if I push hard!

    As for the loose skin…well, I call it LOVE skin because perfection isn’t reality and I love why it’s loose.

    Program Overview

    • There are 3 phases of workouts over the course of 13 weeks. 
    • In total there are 97 days of workouts because you get Sundays off as a rest day.
    • The workouts range from 45-60 minutes, and as always, there is a modifier.
    • It utilizes a timed nutrition plan to produce amazing results.

    Nutrition Plan

    80 Day Obsession follows a timed nutrition plan to optimize muscle performance and recovery.

    You’ll get to eat small frequent meals- which means you’ll never go longer than 3 hours without eating (yay!). More importantly, you’ll have a 6-hour workout block. 

    You’ll have a preworkout meal one hour before you work out then you’ll drink your Energize 15-20 minutes before your workout. 

    Then you’ll have your post-workout Recover within an hour of your workout and enjoy your post-workout meal within 2 hours of your workout. After that you’ll eat every 2.5 to 3 hours {my kinda schedule!}!

          I just finished my seventh personal development book of the year!  Energy Bus.  I highly recommend.  Being more self aware and RAISING my vibration is part of my job description.  How cool, right?  As a coach, I’ve learned how positive vibes raise your vibration!! Your VIBE attracts your TRIBE. 

    Once you get a feel for it, you simply want only GOOD vibes in your life.  You start to see the positive in everything and want more swirling around you as you soak it all in.   If I were to complain all day, I would probably just find more to complain about.  I want the opposite in my life.  There are enough struggles we face, keeping our minds focused on gratitude keeps us moving in the right direction.  

    So what’s YOUR vibe? Grab a piece of paper and write down 3 words you think your friends would use to describe you. Be honest; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then write down 3 different words you would use to describe yourself. How do these words make you feel? 

    Take note.

    Then each morning right down 3 things you are thankful for and 3 things you are going to do to win the day.  It will start you off right!!  The power of 3’s has been HUGE for me!  

    Let’s decide in what ways we could do better, shine brighter, smile more, and give more love. Each day, set an intention for yourself. Patience, kindness, self-love, and understanding are just a few good ones! There is POWER behind intention. Let’s go after it!  We’ve got this.

    Blueberry Paleo Muffins
    (Grain Free, Gluten Free, Low Carb)

    COOK TIME:  20 mins
    SERVES: 6

     

    Ingredients
    • 1 cup blanched almond flour
    • ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
    • pinch of salt
    • 2 tablespoons raw honey
    • ½ cup coconut milk, full fat
    • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
    • 1 egg, room temperature
    • ¼ cup fresh blueberries (frozen blueberries will not work)
    OPTIONAL:
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ⅓ cup of dark chocolate chips
    • ¼ cup chopped nuts
    Instructions
    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with baking cups, or use a non-stick silicone muffin pan.
    2. Mix together the almond flour, baking soda and salt.
    3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, coconut milk, coconut oil, and egg.
    4. Using a rubber spatula, mix the wet and dry ingredients together. Do not over mix.
    5. Gently fold in the blueberries into the batter.
    6. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each to the top.
    7. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 20-25 minutes.
    8. Set pan over a wire rack to cool. Wait until muffins are completely cool before serving.
    Cook’s Notes
    Store in an airtight container in the fridge or freeze for another time.  
    Double the recipe to make 12 blueberry paleo muffins.
  • 3 Day Refresh and a Favorite Recipe

    3 Day Refresh

    My “team-player” of a husband and I just finished up our 3 Day Refresh challenge and I wanted to fill YOU in on all of it!  If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a 3 day cleanse to reboot your system, pave the way for some new healthy habits, try new food combinations and just let your body REST.  There are a lot of healthy fats and proteins incorporated so you feel satiated and full most of the time.  Most 😉

    Here’s the deal.  I like to eat.  I enjoy food.  You’ll never hear me say I forgot to eat or catch me not thinking about my next meal.  It’s who I am.  Luckily, I’ve learned how to eat CLEAN with portion control thanks to my fit tribe and favorite trainers.  I have taught myself to enjoy kale, salads and use way less condiments and cheese.

    So, to do a three day cleanse like this is not my STYLE.  I come from a background of binging on sugar, snacking too late at night, fast food a few times a week and using food to cover up what I was really feeling.  I used it to cope. 

    I know that is NOT healthy but it’s what I fall back on most when I lose my footing on my journey. Once in awhile, I stop…re-evaluate things, take a break and just say “no” for a bit.

    I didn’t lose weight but an inch off my waist and feel lighter, TIGHTER 💪🏻and more energized!  On our team we focus on Non-Scale Victories so I’m NOT sad one bit!  

    In the past when I’ve completed this 3 day cleanse, I’ve lost up to 5 lbs!  3-5 lbs is normal for most women to lose.

    We loved the nine different dinner options and veggie combinations.  I was REALLY happy with the fruit allowance, too.  We did it over the weekend so it was nice to see how much self-control we truly possessed when we put our mind to something.  



    Also, lots of walking and sleep!  Hence the name of the 3 day cleanse { REFRESH } Our little date walks were nice since the kids were sleeping over with Grandma and Grandpa.  You will want to do yoga, light exercise and/or walking only.  On 900 calories, strenuous workouts would make you feel really light headed and weak.

    This is PERFECT for you if you need a break from all the toxins and craziness of life.  If you are headed on vacay or just coming home and need to kick start your bod! It’s also good to have something spelled out for you so you don’t have to think or map it out yourself!

    Cucumber and Tomato Salad Recipe For the 3 Day Refresh

    Cucumber And Tomato Salad Recipe, 3 Day Refresh

    1 large cucumber, peeled and cut

    1 cup cherry tomatoes, cut in half

    1 Tbsp chopped red onion

    1 Tbsp chopped fresh basil, dill, or parsley.  (I prefer mostly dill with a little basil)

    1 dash Himalayan salt

    1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil

    2 tsp fresh lemon juice

    1 tsp balsamic vinegar

    1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

    Combine everything in a bowl, stir and refrigerate for 20 minutes or serve on the spot.  SO GOOD!!!!!

  • Avocado Brownies that will not Disappoint!!

    Avocado Brownies – Gluten Free

    If you are anything like me, you hate the feeling of being deprived. Especially when you are trying to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Now don’t get me wrong. There are times to push hard and go 100% on the meal plan but there are also times to live a little and follow the 80/20 rule. My best results come when I can enjoy “clean treats” vs. craving my old standbys aka sour patch kids. Processed candies and store bought pastries as a no-no for me so I make my own yummy desserts.

    These have been one of those clean treats that I will use forever! Finding ways to tweak and refine what you’re putting in your mouth as you lose the weight and then maintain, is imperative. These freeze well and for chewy avocado brownies, are packed full of healthy fats that the whole family will benefit from. My nephew, Will, could hardly wait until I cut them open! I will say, they are better chilled so make them ahead of time. The kids love them in their lunch or for an after school snack. I love them all day, every day.

    Portion control and overindulging had been a sore spot for me before I started to strengthen my self-control muscle. If you have ever struggled in that area, like me, freeze part of the batch and enjoy the next weekend. It will save your booty (pun intended;)) I hope this helps you as much as it helped me! I’ve got more where this came from so reach out! I love sharing and building relationships!

    I’m gluten free, so any marketed GF brownie mix, like the one from Trader Joe’s, has so much sugar and unnecessary ingredients in it that almost bloats me as bad as a regular Giradelli brownie mix. My goal is to eat whole foods as much as possible and this is why I’d rather make my own.

    Avocado Brownies Recipe:

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips/dark chocolate/bittersweet chocolate/etc
    • 1 Tbsp coconut oil
    • 1 cup avocado puree (~2 very large avocados or up to 4 small ones)
    • 1 Tbsp coconut flour
    • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
    • 3 eggs
    • 1/2 cup honey
    • 1/2 tsp gluten free baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Grease an 8X8 square baking pan.
    3. Melt chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave. Stir every 30 seconds until melted (usually about 1 1/2 minutes).
    4. Fold together melted chocolate and avocado puree in a large bowl (make sure your avocado puree is very smooth or you will have chunks in your brownies).
    5. Mix in remaining ingredients, mixing well.
    6. Pour in to prepared pan and bake for 35 – 45 minutes. Don’t over bake but realize that the brownies will get more moist as they cool.

    Some people order salads at a restaurant because they like it. Others do it because they want to eat healthy or lose weight. And healthy salads are so much tastier when a restaurant makes it, right?

    Well, we all know or at least suspect, where that great taste in a restaurant salad is coming from. It’s those delicious morsels of deep-fried treats and pieces of richly prepared toppings and texture-makers lurking among the greens that are doing the trick.     A basic ranch dressing contains 274 calories per two ounces (about four tablespoons). And that’s without any special additions and spikings that a restaurant would typically do. But even with this modest reckoning, that is almost 3 times the calories contained in the salad veggies themselves.

    The result is a divine salad of course, but for all the good it is doing to your heart or waistline, you might as well have ordered the beef.

    To minimize the calorie additions from dressings and still have a tasty salad, there is a proven method, known as the “Fork Method”. Here’s how you do it:

    1) Begin by ordering the dressing on the side.

    2) Take the fork, and dip only 1/3 of the tines in the dressing. Don’t go more or you’ll pick up too much. Don’t go less or you won’t taste anything.

    3) Now load up the fork with your salad. Eat.

    4) Enjoy the whole salad this way, by dipping the fork in dressing first.

    5) Using the Fork Method, your total consumption of fatty salad dressings will not exceed 2 tablespoons max.

    Now, that would be a healthy salad meal, wouldn’t it?
